James H. Walters, age 71, a resident of Franklinton died Monday at his residence. He was a retired air traffic controller for the F.A.A. in Jackson, Mississippi and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Alford Walters of Franklinton; a daughter, Tricia Staples of Walker; three grandchildren, Austin Staples, Lauren Staples and Mitchell Staples; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lector Varnado Walters; 2 brothers, Wilfred and Gerald Walters and a sister Gladys Simmons.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Jeffrey Walters and Rev. Tommy Meador officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Her parents were Glenn Daniel Sr. and Clara Mae Burch Alford.
She was preceded by her husband James H. Walters and a brother Glenn Daniel Alford Jr.

She was a resident of Mt. Hermon died at 9:05 pm at Riverside medical center. she was a 1955 graduate of Franklinton high school and a former employee of the Louisiana state welfare department. she was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church who enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. she was an excellent cook, especially seafood and her favorite sweet treats. she also enjoyed making delicious jellies and jams and even made candles. she had a special place in her heart for her pet dogs sable and precious.
