Funeral services for Mr. George E Mathis 87, of Monroe were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home-West Monroe. Interment followed at Hasley Cemetery West Monroe.
Mr Mathis was born April 25, 1920 in Richland Parish, LA & died April 18, 2008 in Monroe. Mr Mathis served his country proudly in the US Army during World War II, & received numerous medals for his service. After his military career he worked many years at T L James, before opening his own heavy machinery business.
Mr Mathis was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mathis.
Survivors include one brother, Robert Mathis four sisters, Bethel Rutledge, Janie Britt, Pauline Cunningham, Mary Jane Mathis, Betty Smith, caregiver Deborah Cruz & numerous nieces and nephews. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
