Mattie Mae Morgan Key was born May 11, 1933 to Mr. Joe W. Morgan and Mrs. Bettie Moore Morgan. She was one of three daughters born to the parentage.
Mattie Key was a 1951 graduate of Webster High School. She united in Holy Matrimony to Harrison Key Jr.
She was a faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Calm Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was an active member of the culinary ministry until her health began to fail her.
Mattie Morgan Key departed this life on Oct. 27 in Bossier City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Loretta Fincher Thomas; and two sisters, Gertha Wilson and Callie Hart.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her son, Kenneth Key; three daughters, Patricia Key (Trevor), Sharon Key Jefferson (Michael), and Sonja Key Candler (Willie); four grandchildren, Shankrelyn Thomas, Tariq Key, Kenisha Franklin, and Chloe Candler; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Lorene Key Cobb (Richard) and Betty Key Cotton (Gerald); brother-in-law, Harry L. Key (Ruby); adopted sons, Brian Andy and Ray Peters; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Sis. Mattie M. Key will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at Mt. Calm B.C., with the Rev. T. A. Knapp officiating. Interment will follow at the Sheppard Street Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1 with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m. in Kennon’s Mortuary Chapel. Email condolences may be sent to kennonsmortuary@suddenlink.net
