Carol Ann Crownover Young, of Ruston, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 5, 2015 of complications following an accident at her home. Carol, the daughter of J C and Opal Crownover, was born in Abilene, Texas on August 11, 1936. She received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Hardin Simmons University in 1957. She married Thomas Peters Young on July 27, 1957 and they have three children and six grandchildren. Carol served as the Director of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church Early Childhood Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for more than 30 years allowing her to combine her love of children, love of the church, passion for teaching and commitment to serving her community. After retiring, Carol and Tom moved to Ruston, Louisiana where they joined and remained active with the Presbyterian Church of Ruston. She was a long-term member and officer of P E O and was a member of the Pierian Club and the Littera Club. She absolutely loved to entertain, especially friends and family, and was always willing to assist anyone in need.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Jim Crownover; niece Lynda McCain; and leaves behind her devoted husband Tom; son Jay and his wife Dana and their two children Will and Ann Marie; daughter Christine and her husband Gary Strebeck, and their two children Thomas and James; daughter Helen and her husband Evan LeBlanc and their two children Megan and Laura; sister-in-law Martha Crownover; nephew Glen Crownover; nieces Teresa Crownover and Dana Roberson and a lifetime of other family members and friends that will miss her greatly.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Presbyterian Church of Ruston, 212 N Bonner Street with a reception immediately following in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will be private under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Presbyterian Church of Ruston Church, Broadmoor Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge, or the charity of your choice.
