Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of John Paul Cox, 84, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Billy Crosby. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Cox was born on May 13, 1931 in Center, TX and passed away peacefully at his home on December 15, 2015. John served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force. John was a sales manager at Beard Industries and retired after 43 years and 9 months of service. He was an avid golfer and sports fanatic. Mr. Cox was an active member and ordained deacon of Kingston Road Baptist Church. John spent the last 3 years of his life as a devoted caretaker for his beloved wife Shirley who has diabetes and Alzheimer's.
Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Clifton Cox and Era Lucille Forsythe Cox and one daughter, Paula Lynne Cox.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of John is his beloved wife of 58 years, Shirley Polke Cox; sons, David C. Cox and Robert P. Cox and wife Beverly Stewart Cox; grandchildren, Jessica Cox, Zachary Cox, Wesley Cox and wife Emilee and Samantha Cox.
Honoring Mr. Cox as pallbearers will be: Zachary Cox, Wesley Cox, Denny Morrison, Johnnie Stewart, Simon Shivley, Don Steffens, Marvin Crane and E.J. Baker.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, alz.org or the charity of your choice.
