Funeral services for Barbara Ann Salter Sims, 74 of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe with Rev. Ricky Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens Cemetery in West Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
Barbara was born May 30, 1940 in Richmond, KY and passed away March 8, 2015 at her home in West Monroe, LA, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was the owner of The Costume Shop of West Monroe since 1990 and was an active member of the National Costumers Association. Barbara had been designing and selling costumes since before the shop opened in the 1990’s. Prior to that she owned and operated “The Hair Studio” on Trenton Street in West Monroe.
She was also actively involved with the Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet and the Louisiana Delta Ballet for many years serving as their Costume Mistress. Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Monroe.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Jackie Sims; daughters. Kiffney Bailey (Bobby),Karen Lackey (Eddie), Jennifer Beasley (John); step-daughter, Paula Joseph (Johnny); step-sons, Steve Sims and Scott Sims (Tammy); grandsons; Brian Bailey (Bryanne) and Keith Bailey; granddaughters, Erica Manshack, Melissa Manshack and Alexa Manshack; 3 great-grandchildren and 13 step-grandchildren .
Pallbearers will be Bobby Bailey, Eddie Lackey, John Beasley, Keith Bailey and Frank Varino.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12:00 noon until service time at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
