Mrs. Owens, 72, passed away at her home in West Monroe. She was a retired Reading Math Coordinator for the Ouachita Parish Schools for over 30 years, having taught at Millsaps, Ransom, Lenwil and Riser schools. Christine was a former member and past Grand Organist of the LA Order of the Eastern Star from 1998-1999. She was also LA Mother of the Year 1998-1999. Mrs. Owens was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in West Monroe, where she served as pianist and organist for many years until her health failed.
She is preceded in death by her father, Johnny Lee Clampit and mother, Annie Glennon Clampit. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Wamul Robert Owens, and brother, Milton Clampit and wife, Arlene, all of West Monroe; two sons, Gregory Owens, MD, and wife, Julia Owens, MD, their children, Winston and Madison of Cincinnati, OH, and Christopher Owens, DDS, and wife, Tessa Madere, DDS, and their daughter, Gabrielle Owens of West Monroe.
