Gloria Lavergne Bowie age 86, of Pleasant Valley, passed from this world March 26, while in the company of family and loved ones. She was a mother and grandmother who was a prime example of a true southern belle who was filled with love, compassion, laughter, and support for her loved ones. She held the Catholic Church, and her family at the top of her priorities and all that knew Gloria knew all these traits along with her amazing smile, her love of gardening, and cooking. She retired from Sears-Roebucks, and served as a member of the Altar Society of St. Francis Catholic Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Organization along with being active in the Ouachita Parish Library Club, local Senior Citizen Center, and volunteering with multiple organizations throughout her lifetime and community.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Gordon H Bowie, parents, John and Yola Lavergne, only sister, Janet Taylor, her great grandson, Nolan Bowie, and her only daughter Sheryl Bowie Zigler.

She leaves behind her sons, John G. Bowie, Marcus Scott Bowie, and Tracy Bowie and his wife Rhonda all of Downsville, LA; Grandchildren, Jessica Carter (Chris) of Haughton, Kristi Boucher (Tommy), Joshua Bowie both of California, Johnathon Bowie of Winnsboro, Charles Bowie, Brennen Zigler (Jordyn), Bradie Zigler of West Monroe, Marc Bowie of West Monroe, 12 great grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all of the following for her support; nurses, Patty, Crystal, Mrs. Mary at MedStar and Gracie at Glenwood. We would like to give a special thanks to her daughter-in-law and caregiver, Rhonda Bowie for her support and love she gave Gloria in her time of special need.

Gloria will be missed by all who knew her and may she rest now in the presents of Angels.

A Memorial service will be held at Griffin Funeral Home in West Monroe on March 30, 2016 at 4PM. No graveside services will be held at this time. Visitation will be from 3PM until the service.
