Services for Pamela Magee Holmes, 74, of West Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 30, 2012, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation starting at 1:00 PM will precede a brief service.Pam died Saturday morning at Glenwood Regional Medical Center from multiple complications following surgery to repair a broken hip. She had been in declining health for some time.Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Wilda Magee of Mississippi; daughter, Deborah Holmes Smith of Monroe; and a sister, Elizabeth Anderson of Broken Arrow, OK.Survivors include her husband, Jerry D. Holmes of West Monroe; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Serena Holmes of Tylertown, MS; son-in-law, Steven Smith of Monroe, LA; a niece, Carole Anderson Hanlin of Broken Arrow, OK; a nephew, Bruce Anderson of Wichita Falls, TX; as well as a number of "daughters" - April Martin, Tammy Robert, Ann Stuckey, Julie LeFleur, Ilanna Walder-Lick, Mary Robertson; and numerous special friends.A native of Tylertown, MS she attended Blue Mountain College, Mississippi College, and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a BA. Her work outside the home was volunteer work helping with the ULM's artist series, Arts Festival, an annual Easter theatre tour to New York, and international tours for over 25 years. In every way she was a partner in her husband's activities.The family wishes to extend its thanks to Dr. Floyd Jones and his staff for their help in caring for Pam, as well as Haven Home Health, and Dr. Jyothi Mallepalli for their part. Likewise we will always remember the Glenwood Nursing staff of the third floor unit who cared for her.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Alzheimer's research, local animal shelters, or the Ouachita Parish Library.
