Bossier County,
Louisiana

March 3, 1925 - March 20, 2014

Una was born March 3, 1925 in Union, Mississippi to Oney and Cora Wilkerson and died March 20, 2014 in
Ringgold, Louisiana. She was a member of Ringgold United Methodist Church.
Her parents, two sisters and four brothers proceeded her in death. Left to cherish her memory is husband of sixty
years, Paul C. Carroll, Sr.; son, Paul C. Carroll, Jr.; daughters Deborah Faye Gray and husband, Sam; Mary Hope
Holley and husband, Bill; Penny Diane Gonzales and husband, David; nine grandchildren and six great
grandchildren.
Una graduated from House High School, Union, Mississippi and Meridian Beauty College.
She was married to Paul for 60 years, 58 of which was spent in United Methodist Parsonages. She was granted the
P.H.T. Degree (Put Husband Through) from Emory University which was well deserved.
During some of the early years (before taught in public schools) she operated kindergarten school in the church
buildings. She sang in the church choir, had a passion for social justice, always worked in church outreach and
missions, and always was a member of the United Methodist Women. Una was a devoted mother, grandmother,
great grandmother and taught all her children to be respectful of all people, taught them how to cook, clean and most
importantly to listen and pray.
Her favorite hymn was “Others” which was sung by son-in-law, Sam, and which describes her life.
Hers was a wonderful life, which was what she wanted everybody else to have.
