son of James Madison Hawkins, Sr and Agnes Finley Ann Hale. Jacob Robert Hale was his uncle, son of George Washington Hale and Elizabeth Carter Golihar Hale and brother of Agnes Hale Hawkins. Both were born in Hosston and neither of them ever married.
