BENTON, LA - Services for Ted Alford, 89, will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel with Dr. Mark Crook officiating And Bro. Don Crook assisting. Interment will follow in Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.

Ted passed away on July 15, 2007 in Bossier City, LA. He was born in Gloster, MS and was of the Methodist faith. He attended Byrd High School in Shreveport.

Ted was a member of the North Louisiana Fox Hunters Association, raising, showing and breeding Walker hounds. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was also involved in producing rodeos, was an excellent horseman and spent years calf roping in area rodeos.

He owned and operated Alford's Welding Co. in Bossier City doing pipeline construction in Louisiana and surrounding states. He taught welding for the Louisiana Department of Education for many years in Bossier City.

He was a fighter and spent his last years struggling to be independent "in spite of" his failing health.

For many years, Ted was a fixture at his grandsons baseball games from youth baseball at Walbrook Park to Benton High School baseball games, not only did he attend every game, he attended many practice sessions also.

Preceding him in death are his wife Rose Marie (MARRIED DEC. 1939), parents, Albert and Mary Alice Alford.

Ted is survived by his sons, Dempsey Alford and wife Ann, Fred Alford and wife LaDell of Benton, LA, daughter, Dixie Rogers and husband Joe of Plainview, TX, Grandchildren, J.W. Rogers, Michael Alford, Ted Alford, Jeremy Alford and Emily Alford.

Honoring Ted as pallbearers will be Billy Tom Johnston, Don Whittington, Ardis J. Peace, Terry Lawrence, Matt Lawrence and Matt Caston.
