He enlisted June 1, 1861, in Raleigh, Mississippi. When the unit was reorganized, his enlistment date changed to October 18, 1861, in Enterprise, Mississippi. He was discharged for disability on May 1, 1863. The disability listed was "ulceration of the legs."
