Nita Plunkett, 76, of Ruston, LA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Life Care Specialty Hospital of North Louisiana in Ruston, LA after a lengthy battle with many heart issues.
Nita was born January 28, 1940 in Shreveport, LA to the late J.V. and Gene (McPherson) Franklin. She was a respiratory therapist at the North Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston, LA for many years. Nita was an upbeat person who was a joy to be around. She loved her family, traveling, and sweepstaking.
She is preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents W.M. and Arletta McPherson; paternal grandparents D.R. and Ruby Rita Franklin; brother in law Kenneth Treece; and niece Stacy Treece.
Nita is survived by her sisters Billie Treece of Shongaloo, LA and Jeanette Atkinson and husband Dwight of Dardnelle, AR; nieces Allison Treece of Shongaloo, LA and Kristy Kidd and husband Shane of Little Rock, AR; nephews Matthew Treece and Christopher Treece both of Shongaloo, LA; aunts Esther Watson of Haughton, LA and Joyce Brown of Bossier City, LA; special friends Jennifer Barmore of Ruston, LA and Rosemary Ficklin of Choudrant, LA; and her rescued canine “babies” Rusty and Layla.
Visitation will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Shongaloo, LA followed by funeral services at 11 AM with Bro. Jason Lupo officiating. Interment will be held at 3 PM at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Haughton, LA with Dr. Randy Hales officiating.
