June 10, 1940 - March 14, 2015
Shreveport, LA - Frances Berry Hendershot passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 18, at First United Methodist Church, in the Couch Chapel. Private Graveside service to follow. Officiating will be Dr. Pat Day. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 17 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Frances was born on June 10, 1940 in New Orleans, Louisiana and grew up in Ruston, Louisiana. She graduated from Ruston High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents Maynard and Lola Berry. She is survived by her daughters Pam H. Dethloff, and husband David, and Lisa H. Barnette. Grandchildren Joel Hynes, and wife Megan, Drew Dethloff, Connor Klotz and Megan, Cole Barnette and Carson Barnette. Great granddaughter Bellamy Klotz.
Frances enjoyed a very successful career in the telecommunications and broadcasting industry. She was a pioneer in the fiber optic transmission field and was highly respected and admired by her peers. Frances was Vice President of Carrier Relations with the Fox Network Center. She was responsible for directing live sporting events for 27 Fox Sports Networks throughout the U.S. On a daily basis, she was at the center of the operational intricacies of making sure live sporting events were transmitted from production trucks on site to the television viewing audience.
Frances began her career with South Central Bell in Shreveport. Following her 13 years at Bell, she spent many years with Williams Communications and rose to the level of Vice President. At Williams she gained widespread knowledge and was a key player in providing fiber optic services for commercial clients.
Pallbearers will be Tim Sweeney, Mike Bany, Wesley Adams, Lloyd Wells and Mickey Mondello.
The family request in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church P. O. Box 1567, Shreveport, LA 71165-1567 or the charity of your choice .
