HAUGHTON, LA - Services for Mary Ellen Smith Edwards will be 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA. Officiating will be Bro. Cleve Cyrus, pastor of Bellevue Union Church, where she was a member. Interment will follow at Pilgrim Home Cemetery, Ivan, LA. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City.Mary Ellen was born September 29, 1937 in Bossier Parish, LA to Curley M. Smith and Gurthie Matlock Smith and passed away March 26, 2015 in Bossier City. She retired from the Bossier Parish School Board with over 20 years of service as a bus driver. Mary Ellen enjoyed music, movies, puzzles, and the beach at Galveston, fishing and watching Kevin Costner.She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen; daughter, Melanie and husband, Roy.She is survived by her sons, Alfred Rhodes and wife, Mitzi, Johnny Rhodes and wife, Vickie, Lane "Buck" Rhodes, Jr. and wife, Paula; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren brother, C. Kenneth Smith and wife, Betty and sister, Burnie Dee Coker and husband, Lewis.Honoring Mary Ellen as pallbearers will be Jesse Warren, Bryan Rhodes, Jesse Cook, Casey Jones, Shelton Stiles and Chase Hesson. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Smith, Steven Simonton, Kenny Mills, Phillip Maxey and Chris Elmore.
