Mary Henry Obituary

PLAINVILLE - Mary Evelyn Dunn McElhanon Henry regretably passed away Sunday June 26th 2011 in the early morning hours at Norwood Hospital. Miss Evelyn "Memaw" was a resident of Massachusetts for the past seven years after her beloved second husband Curtis Henry passed away. Prior to that she was a resident of Camden, Arkansas for many years, after being born and raised in Shongaloo, Louisiana. Evelyn Henry was a kind, sweet hearted, strong woman. She was a vibrant spitfire with a southern accent that would melt anyone's heart. Mary Evelyn was a beautiful woman inside and out. Her caring ways and strength have been passed down through our generations. Her love of people and kindness and caring was shown through her ascertainment of her License in Practical Nursing (LPN) "In my day, this was two years of schooling now, and we'd all call the law after them doctors if they didn't answer us when we called about our patients". Most of Her employment was as "lead Nurse up there at the Springhill hospital down yonder on the graveyard shift".

The things Memaw enjoyed most were crocheting, quilting, cooking, sewing, gardening, being outside, and most of all being with her family and eating around the supper table. Miss Evelyn joins her brother and four sisters as well as parents and her first husband Mot McElhanon, her only son Billy Mac McElhanon's father, and her second beloved husband Curtis Henry.

She leaves behind her son Billy Mac McElhanon, daughter-in-law Maureen McElhanon. Her brothers Claymon, and Calvin Dunn; as well as grandchildren Billy & Shahira, Deva & Mark, Jennifer & Mike and Amanda & Mike, along with her Great Grandchildren: Anthony, Spencer, Lilah, Norah, Simon Billy, Troy, and Marietta Evelyn.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated in All Saints Anglican Church, 1188 South Main Street (Route 152) Attleboro, MA on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 1p.m. Services will be held at Baileys Mortuary in Springhill La on Sunday July 3rd.
