Roberta Osborne, 92, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 11, at Golden Villa in Atlanta, Texas. She was born April 18, 1922 in Sarepta, La to Oliver and Camille Staten Smith. “Mama Berta” lived her faith serving the Lord in the Assembly of God church and she was a member of King’s Corner Assembly of God in Sarepta, LA. She was a homemaker, accomplished seamstress and an amazing cook. In 1941 she married Webb Braley, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1977. She married Fred Osborne in 1982. When he passed away in 1994 she moved to Atlanta to be near her only child, Phyllis. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ovis, Frankie and Reese Smith of Sarepta and sisters, Julia Dean and Betty Carruth of Lumberton Texas and step great grandson, John Whatley. She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Braley Hood Fitts and husband William of Atlanta; stepdaughter Myrna Robinson and husband Ken of Kingwood, TX, Kathy Brookshire and husband Steve of Fordyce, AR, Treva Millarr and husband RJ of Midlothian, TX; Grandchildren Mark Hood and wife Christine of Prosper, TX, Sonya Bowen and husband Jeff of Claxton, GA; step grandchildren Sheila Fitts Wolters and husband Mike of Brookeland, TX and Philip Fitts of Longview; , Lori Parrson and husband Mike of Fordyce, Ashley Harris and husband Jason of Hot Springs, AR, Mike Minnick of Austin, David and Ruth Bell of Noble, OK, Lisa Bell of Miami, OK; Great grandchildren: Chelsea and Dustin Crouch of Casey Illinois, Dillon and Jacob Hood of Prosper, Texas, Katie and Alex Hastings of Halle, Germany; Brodie Bowen serving in USAF in Italy; step great grandchildren Clint Whatley of Longview; Devin Whatley of Brookeland, TX; step great grandchildren, Caden Parson, Ty Harris, Nathan Bell, Corban Bell; and her sisters Joyce Henson of Bivins, Texas and Ernestine Pickard of Sarepta, La and brother Reed “Shorty” Smith of Atlanta, Texas. Visitation will be at Hanner Funeral Service on Thursday, January 15th from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will be at 11am, Friday, January 16, 2015, in the Hanner Funeral Chapel with Reverend Hal Haltom officiating. Interment will be 2:00 pm, Friday, January 16, 2015, in Springhill Cemetery, Springhill, LA. Memorials can be made to Hermann Memorial Children’s Hospital, 6411 Fannin Street, Houston, TX 77030, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, St Jude’s Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association at ALZ.org.
