Mary Susan Sims Woods, 91, of Springhill, LA passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Carrington Place in Springhill, LA.
What kind of tribute could be paid to a life well lived, a wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her whole life to her God and her family; many of God’s blessings in heaven for sure. A woman of morals and integrity to be passed on to all whose lives she touched. Proverbs 31 describes the very essence of her person.
Mary was born on December 6, 1923 in Springhill to the late Walter Lee and Pearlie (McClain) Sims and she was also predeceased in death by her husband Sidney Jewel Woods; daughter Sharon Bouriaque; grandson Barry Lemons; sister Georgia Luman; brothers Bill Sims, Tyson Sims, and beloved Paul Sims.
Mary leaves behind four daughters, Glenda Burt and husband Jeff, Bobbie Lemons and husband Bill, Vickie Hensley and husband Donald, Karen Langley and husband David; son in law Dr. Edward Bouriaque; nine grandchildren; and twenty two great grandchildren.
Mary was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school there for many years and also attended the United Pentecostal Church in Springhill.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 22 from 3 to 5 PM at Lewis Funeral Home in Springhill. Funeral services will be Monday, March 23 at 10 AM at the Springhill United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Lyn Story, Bro. Roy Dale Strother and Pastor Gerald Trammell. Burial will follow at the Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Springhill.
Pallbearers will be Donald Hensley, Chris Hensley, Monty Burt, Mike Cook, David Bouriaque, and Jonathan Bouriaque. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Dubberly, Dr. Edward Bouriaque and Caleb Bouriaque.
