SPRINGHILL, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Orville Cook "Cookie" Barberousse, age 90, will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at 10 am in the Central Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA. Family will receive friends Tuesday, 5 pm until 8 pm. Mrs. Barberousse was born March 15, 1913 in Minden, Louisiana to Rubin Rushton and Minnie Sara Smith Cook and died June 29, 2003 following a short illness in Shreveport, LA. She was a resident of Springhill, LA for 63 years, a faithful member and worker of Central Baptist Church and a retired school teacher of 33 years, she taught third grade in Cotton Valley and Springhill. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edwin D. "Eddie" Barberousse; daughter, Angie Mundy of Shreveport, LA; son, Joe C. Barberousse and wife, Cherry of Baton Rouge, LA; three grandchildren, Tammy Martin and husband, Ty of Shreveport, LA, Toni Evans and husband, Matt of Shreeveport, LA, Wendy Barberousse of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and three great-grandchildren, Austin Evans, Garrison Evans, and Jaycie Martin.
