Annie Pearl Farrar, 91 of Lillie, Louisiana died January 12, 2013, in Ruston, Louisiana, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born March 11, 1921 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana to Sturgess and Rosa Mae Goss Thompson. She graduated from Junction City High School where she played varsity basketball for 4 yrs. She received several offers from colleges to play basketball but chose to marry Daniel Farrar instead. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Lillie, Louisiana. She was a loving wife, mother, and care-giver to her parents, husband and son. She was a homemaker and well-known for her cooking, and quilting. She sold Avon for 19 years, was a substitute rural mail carrier, church custodian and helped in Lucille Farrar's grocery store.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, her husband, Daniel Farrar; brothers Milam, Willie, Herbert and Dale Thompson, Uncles Minor, Proctor, Wiley, Travis, Watson, Graydon and Clyde Goss and Fred, Roy, Vergil and Pete Thompson; Aunts; Lucille Goss Whitcomb, Mary Thompson Davis and Fannie Thompson Platt; Brothers-in-law, Wess, Roy, Tony and Sam Farrar; Sisters-in-law; Lucille and Gladys Farrar and Ethel Anderson; Niece; Janice Baker; nephews; Marlon Thompson and Ronnie Farrar.
She is survived by sons Douglas Jerry Farrar and wife Bobbie Nell of El Dorado; Billy Bruce Farrar of Lillie, Louisiana and his special friend, Terri Travis of Minden, Louisiana Grand-daughter, Sharlane Adams and James; great grandchildren Wes and Kayla Adams and great great granddaughter Addison Adams all of West Monroe, Louisiana Sisters; Peggy Morse of Sarepta, Louisiana and Ruth Elle Taylor of Lillie
Brother Everette Thompson and Helen of El Dorado. Nieces Jeanette Fee and Patrick, Susan Beaird and Michael all of Minden, Donna Taylor of Lillie, Toni Ruth Taylor, Janelle Morrison and Randy all of Shreveport, Tonya White and Mike of El Dorado, Penny Farrar of Junction City, Rose Abery and Scott of Hartford, Connecticut. Debbie Nickerson and Billy of Springhill, Louisiana, Dorothy Carson and Loy of West Monroe, Shirley Smith of Arcadia, Jean Kay and Bill of Farmerville and Teresa Thompson; Nephew; Bronson Wayne Thompson and Edie of Spearsville, Louisiana Sister-in-law; Jeanette Farrar of Junction City. Special Friends Mary Jo Thurmon, Aline Westbrook, Carolyn Aycock, Doris Tatum, Lydia Farrar, Dorothy Atkinson and many more.
Visitation will be Monday January 14, 2013 at Union Grove Baptist Church in Lillie, Louisiana from 6-8 PM.
Services will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church in Lillie, Louisiana on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Bro Ken Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
