Masel Lang Corkern, 77,
a lifelong resident of the Sheridan community, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday in St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Daniel E. Corkern Jr. of Sheridan; her five children and their spouses, Sandy and Ginger Corkern of Franklin, Dale and Eddie Bowman of St. Amant, Karen and Johnny Hobgood, Susan and Walter O'Bryant, all of Sheridan, and Mark and Nancy Corkern of the Stateline community; eight grandchildren, Beth Corkern Fontenot of Bothell, WA, Sarah Corkern Boudreaux, Timothy Corkern, Jonathan Bowman, all of Baton Rouge, Scott Hobgood, Paul Hobgood, Josh Strahan, Jennifer Corkern Harris, Jessica Corkern, Cory O'Bryant, and Alison O'Bryant Singley, all of the Franklinton area; her great-grandchildren, Madelynne Fontenot, Kiersten Harris, Jaylyn Hobgood, Claire Singley, and Autum, Jacob, and Lizzie Crowe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ivy O. and Cordelia McNeese Lang; her sister, Lora Lang Revere; and her brothers, Alton, Vernon, Alfred, Odie, Kenneth, and Wyman Lang.

The funeral service was to be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Elds. Duane Ball and Brent King will officiate at the service.
Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery in Sheridan.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Mt. Sinai Church.
