Nancy Raborn was born October 27, 1934 in Winnsboro, TX to Boyce J. Jones and Ruthie Mae Jones. Nancy went to be with Jesus April 10, 2012, due to her Alzheimer's condition, complicated by a stroke. Nancy grew up in Winnsboro, TX. After high school she moved to Dallas, TX, where she attended business school and worked for Recordak Company. While living there she met the love of her life, Bob E. Raborn, and they married June 11, 1955. Nancy and Bob were married 56 years having lived in Texarkana, TX and Tulsa, OK before moving to Shreveport in 1966. They have one son, Earl Raborn, married to Bitsy Raborn; one daughter, Ann Fowler, married to Randy Fowler.

As an active member of Broadmoor Baptist Church since 1966 she served in the prayer ministry, as a children's Sunday School teacher, and in many roles in the Scott Tatum Sunday School Class. Nancy loved meeting the needs of others whether it was driving homebound friends to doctor appointments or taking meals to the sick. She loved helping any way she was able to help another. She had a true servant's heart also having her own personal ministry of baking homemade bread for others.

Working as secretary at University Elementary School from 1970 until 1993 allowed her an avenue to fulfill both her passions of loving children and doing administrative work. Other endeavors included being a part time realtor for Harkey Realty and a volunteer at Christus Schumpert Hospital as a "Pink Lady" delivering cards and flowers to patients.

Nanny, as her grandchildren affectionately called her, lived for her grandkids being their #1 fan at sporting events, school programs, and loved vacationing with them in Arkansas every summer.

Sports were an important part of her life playing in summer tennis leagues and recreational golf. She gave 110% to everything in which she was involved.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Boyce J. Jones, and a brother, Rex Alan Jones. She is survived by her faithful loving husband, Bob E. Raborn; son, Earl Raborn, his wife, Bitsy Raborn, of Shreveport; daughter, Ann Fowler and husband, Randy Fowler, of Houston, TX; and her sister, Nell Evans of Dallas, TX. She has six grandchildren, Sarah Raborn Desonier, married to James Desonier, Braley Raborn, Logan Raborn, Cody Fowler, Ben Fowler, and Matthew Fowler; and two great grandchildren, Clara and Dean Desonier.

Pallbearers will be Braley Raborn, Logan Raborn, Cody Fowler, Ben Fowler, Matthew Fowler and James Desonier. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Tatum Sunday School Class.
