Louisiana

April 23, 1932 - June 16, 2022

Anne Lavonne Giglio Wright (née Norris), aged 90, a long-time resident of West Monroe and Monroe, Louisiana, passed peacefully from this life on June 16, 2022, after a brief illness.

Anne was born on April 23, 1932, in Houston, Texas, the only child of John Henry Norris and Beulah Mae Riley. After spending her childhood in El Dorado, Arkansas, she and her mother moved to Miami, Florida, where she marched in the Orange Bowl parade, one of the high points of her early life of which she often spoke fondly.

After moving from Florida to Mississippi, Anne began her professional life as the Assistant City Clerk for the City of Hollandale, Mississippi, later relocating to Monroe, Louisiana, where she worked for a time for the Utility Commission of the City of Monroe. In 2002, she retired from employment with Time Warner Cable, Inc. after decades of service to the company.

Anne was a member for many years of the American Business Women’s Association as well as the Northeast Louisiana Gem and Mineral Society. She also belonged to the congregation of First United Methodist Church of Monroe. Throughout her life, she enjoyed baking and candy making, riding horses, bowling, caring for her pets, and especially spending time with her family.

Anne was predeceased by her parents; her first husband Cosimino Giglio; her uncles Elmore Norris, Jerome C. Norris, and James L. Riley; her aunts Delilah G. Riley Swift, Mary R. Riley Dorsett, and Lucille Riley; and her first cousins James L. Pierce and Paul A. Norris.

Anne is survived by her four children: Cosimino (Susan) Giglio of Indianola, Mississippi; Carla (Jimmy) Steele of Monroe, Louisiana; Lavonne (Dennis) Goodeaux of Monroe, Louisiana; and Sara (Travis) Holley of Monroe, Louisiana. She also leaves five grandchildren, Heather (Brian) McCauley of Dallas, Texas; Morgan Taylor Kennedy of Calhoun, Louisiana; Emily (Graham) Webb of Monroe, Louisiana; Ashley Giglio of Indianola, Mississippi; and Barlow Holley of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as well as two great-grandchildren, Hunter Stegman of Dallas, Texas and Miles Wilder of Monroe, Louisiana. Other surviving relatives include her first cousins Phillip Norris of Dallas, Texas; James (Carol) Norris of Garland, Texas; and John (Sandy) Norris of Houston, Texas.

Anne was a beautiful lady all her life, always with a smile and kind words for all that she met. She loved and was loved by all who knew her.

A private service will be held at the home of Travis and Sara Holley to celebrate the memory of a lady that made this world a happier and better place and whom we all will miss.

The family wishes to express its sincere thanks to Anne’s caregivers, especially Landmark Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, for their devoted attention to her.
