Caddo County,
Louisiana

September 10, 1932 - February 14, 2015

Marcia Thompson Rozeman passed from this life into eternity on Saturday, February 14, 2015 after a sudden illness. A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at Trinity Heights Baptist Church with interment at Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA.

Mrs. Rozeman was born September 10, 1932 to the late H B and Frances Thompson in Keatchie, Louisiana. She was raised through prayer and love by a widowed mother raising eight children through the Great Depression and World War II. She graduated with honors from Longstreet High School and entered the first ever class of the NSU School of Nursing and graduated in 1954.

She married Abe Rozeman, the love of her life, the day after she graduated from nursing school. She stayed home with her four children, Phillip, Sonya, Paul and Dena until all started school. She then began a 40 year career as a nurse in the schools of North Caddo Parish before retiring at the age of 76.

She wrote "I kept going back to the schools every year for forty years because I wanted to be the love and hope so many children sought from some adult." She wrote she couldn't go anywhere without being stopped and asked "Ms Rose, how are you?" Her life was about instilling into her children and grandchildren, both biological and in her schools, a sense of integrity and respect for others.

She supported Trinity Heights Baptist Church with her time and love for 60 years, basing her life on a strong faith in Christ. That reliance on grace supported and continues to support her family through good times and bad.

Everybody knew Mrs Rozeman, Marcia, Marsha, Marcia Grace, Ms. Rose, Mom or Nana - all descriptions of the same person. She knew no stranger, had no fear, and exhibited abounding faith. She made people feel loved, helped those with the greatest need, and lived by the law of kindness.

Mrs Rozeman was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brothers, Wyatt, Clyde, Leslie and Merrill Thompson; sisters, Melba Irvine and Angie Verne Beard; and great-grandchildren Hunter and Brooke Berg. Among those left to cherish her memory are her sister Blanche Monday; her children and spouses, Dr Phillip and Alma Rozeman, Sonya and Robert Smith, Paul and Toni Rozeman, and Dena and Mike Martindale. She is also survived by grandchildren Laura Dobson, Dr Sarah Berg, Mark Rozeman, Brian Smith and Rachael Peralez, Claire and Audrey Rozeman, Casey and Micah Martindale; great-grandchild, Sadie Berg; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Honorary pallbearers will be the 39ers of Trinity Heights Baptist Church. In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made to the Shreveport Shriners Hospital or the St Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Mrs Rozeman expressed her thoughts in long handwritten letters. In one of her last letters she wrote, "When I'm gone, remember the good times and please don't grieve for my going. I lived my life caring for others. Now it is your time to continue the legacy…I love you and may God bless each one." So she did and so we will.
