LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Cynthia Montet, 66, who passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at her residence. Brother Dave Rousse, Chaplain of Hospice Compassus, will officiate the funeral ceremony. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Cynthia is survived by two daughters, Wendy Montet of Breaux Bridge, LA, and Robin Montet of Lafayette, LA; one son, Robbie Montet, and his wife Ana of Columbus, MS; three grandchildren, Devyn Williams, and her husband Taylor of Breaux Bridge, LA, Bijon Latif of Breaux Bridge, LA, and Karoline Latif of Breaux Bridge, LA; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Williams, Jr., Makaylah Williams, and Bijon Latif, Jr., all of Breaux Bridge, LA; and a special family friend, Alton Broussard, of Youngsville, LA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Montet; her parents, Ursule and Belazaire Broussard; and one sister, Annabelle Broussard.
After being employed for 25 years by the Lafayette Parish School Board, Cynthia retired and became a volunteer for Hospice Compassus. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, dancing, and spending time with her loving family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Montet, Bijon Latif, Alton Broussard, Taylor Williams, Michael Hidalgo, and Brent Hidalgo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Karoline Latif, Bijon Latif, Jr., Taylor Williams, Jr., and Makaylah Williams.
Visitation hours will be observed on Monday, August 13, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m, and on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be said on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m.
The family would like to give special thanks to the 9th floor staff of Lafayette General Medical Center, especially Kevin, Rosia, and Dayana, and also to the entire staff of Hospice Compassus.
