Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at a 12:00 PM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Geraldine H. Stroad, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at her residence in Lafayette surrounded by her family.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The Very Reverend W. Curtis Mallet, JCL, VG, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will officiate the services.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Charles E. Stroad of Lafayette; one daughter, Stacy Hoke of Lafayette; two sons, Troy Thibodeaux and Damon Thibodeaux and his friend, Jenny Olivier all of Lafayette; four step-daughters, Susan R. Stroad of Scott, Tina Leest and her husband, Stephen of Concordia, KS; Leigh Ann Hebert and her husband, Dell of Carencro and Christi Stroad of Scott; one brother, Jerry Hains and his wife, Peggy of Lafayette; seven grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and her best friend, Linda Hains.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Rose Romero Hains; and one brother.

A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, Mrs. Stroad was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed collecting angels, long phone conversations with friends and family and helping the elderly by providing transportation to the grocery store. She was a member of the St. Genevieve Catholic Church Community and loved visiting with her friends following Sunday Mass. Mrs. Stroad loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Wallace John Boudreaux III, David Hebert, David Pouliot, Dell Hebert, Joshua Olivier and Norman Lindsey.

A Rosary will be recited by Julian and Jan Judice on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
