December 23, 1958 - November 16, 2014

LAFAYETTE - Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Life Church, 6408 Johnston Street Lafayette, LA 70503 for Leslie Deck Goode, 55, who passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at her residence.

Bob Zannini, Pastor of Life Church will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery immediately following the service.

Leslie was a resident of Lafayette, LA since 1985. She was born in Orlando, FL on December 23, 1958 and is the daughter of James Deck and the former Venita Wilks.

Leslie loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ above all, which permeated every area of her life. Her love for her family was second only to her love for Christ. She loved her husband, three sons, daughter, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews dearly and always considered them a gift from God. She had an unquenchable passion for life, especially for people, and accepted everyone unconditionally. She possessed an incredible God-given gift for connecting with people. Usually within a few minutes after she met you, you either became a very good acquaintance, or a friend for life. Her God-given wisdom was amazing, but one of her most noticeable traits was how humble she was; she was always quick to give God the credit for everything. One of her favorite sayings was "God loves everyone. . . but I am His favorite," and there is no doubt that God broke the mold after he made her. Leslie: wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, best friend, companion, confidant, and mentor; we will always love you dearly and we will always miss you dearly. But we take comfort, and are absolutely certain that when God's Favorite got to heaven, she was told "well done good and faithful servant. . . " (Matthew 25:23). Leslie, you definitely fought the good fight, all 15 rounds, and you definitely finished the race, in first place. Now that you are in heaven, you have all of eternity to connect with people and I bet you are having a blast, we can't wait to see your smile and hear your laughter again, we love you so much honey!

Leslie is survived by her loving husband of 29 years Richard W. "Rick" Goode; her parents James R. Deck and Venita Deck; her children, Rich W. Goode, Chris J. Goode, Philip M. Goode, and Rachel E. Goode; her brothers James Deck, Robert Deck, and her sister Tina Deck Wilson.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visiting hours will continue at Life Church on Johnston Street on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be her husband Richard W. "Rick" Goode, her sons, Rich W. Goode, Chris J. Goode, Philip M. Goode, her father James Deck, and her brother Robert Deck.

The Goode Family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the entire Life Church family for their steadfast commitment to and love for us, especially pastors Bob and Amanda Zinnini, and Church Secretary Tammy Debose; you are all truly servants. We also express our appreciation to Heart of Hospice for making this very difficult time a little easier to bear. Lastly we would like to thank Dr. Salman Malad, the medical and office staff, and all of the infusion nurses at the Cancer Treatment Centers of Acadiana, for their genuine commitment to Leslie.
