LAFAYETTE - Rachelle Rae Landry Simon, 38, passed away peacefully at her home in Katy, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones, on November 19th, 2012, following a short battle with stomach cancer. A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, Rachelle will always be remembered for her beautiful smile that would brighten up the room; her generous heart and wise spirit; and her unending kindness, traits which will forever live on in the hearts and memories of those fortunate to have known her.
Heaven has gained one hard-working angel. Rachelle will be dearly missed; she was a wonderful wife, exceptional mother and daughter and fantastic friend to all who knew her.
Additionally, she was a respected, executive professional in the commercial insurance industry. Through the years, she ascended the corporate ladder; her most previous position was that of Senior Account Manager at Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management in Houston.
Rachelle is survived by her husband, Michael; children, Reagan, Connor, and Juliana; mother, Annette Bourque Landry; brother, Daran Landry and his wife, Dawn; father and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Judy Simon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Denise Simon, Chris and Annette Simon, Mark and Bonnie Simon, Jude and Jacey Simon and Craig and Cherie Blanchard; and her Godparents, Janell Bourque Hernandez and Curt Landry.
She was preceded in death by her father, Newton Landry; and her grandparents, Harold and Thelma Landry and Edwin and Roberta Bourque.
Her family will hold a wake for her from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, November 23rd at Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE Lafayette location, 600 E. Farrel Rd., and will continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of the funeral. The funeral will be at 12:00 Noon at a Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel. Rev. O. Joseph Breaux will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the services. Lectors will be Dawn Fontenot Landry and Donna Parsley. Giftbearers will be Reagan and Juliana Simon, escorted by Yvette Landry Camet.
Interment will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
A Rosary will be prayed on Friday at 6:30 P.M. in the funeral home, by Mr. Ray Domingue.
The immediate family wishes to thank all of those other family members and friends who have been so generous to Rachelle, Michael and their children over these past months.
Pallbearers will be Curt Landry, Scotty Landry, Glenn Landry, Marc Landry, Jim Simon, Chris Simon, Mark Simon and Jude Simon. Honorary pallbearers will be Connor Simon and Tommy Bourque.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rachelle's name to the Robert E. Reed Gastrointestinal Oncology Research Foundation, P. O. Box 530186, Birmingham, Alabama 35253.
