US Marine Corps
November 19, 1987 - May 23, 2019
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 27, 2019, at 10:00 AM in St Jules Catholic Church in Lafayette, for Kimberly Cathey Buckles, 31, who passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019, at her residence in Lafayette. The family will receive friends at St Jules Catholic Church Monday from 8:30 AM until the service time. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 AM.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Reverend Dan Edwards, Pastor of St Jules Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include husband Robert Buckles; mother, Leslie Cathey; father Dave Cathey and wife Jennifer; brothers Benjamin Cathey and Connor Cathey; sister Bridget Doran; maternal grandparents Floyd and Flo Courvelle; paternal grandfather Bill Cathey; in laws Richard and Debra Buckles; sister in law Ashley Stephens and husband Gregory and nephew Aiden Hansen.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Pauline "Polly" Cathey and her maternal grandfather, Leslie Jakeway.
A resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for most of her life, Kimberly was a loving wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She was born November 19, 1987 in Arlington, Texas, graduated from the gifted learning program at Lafayette High School in May of 2006, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2007. She was blessed to travel many different countries and loved experiencing new cultures. She was a strong, intelligent, and independent young woman. She was loved, and she will not be forgotten.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Jobert, Ryan Menard, Bryan Reed, Richard Baker, Bren Hash, and George McLaughlin.
