A Time to Be Born

In the evening of August 4, 2020, God found it fitting that Hortince Lorraine Bell Sutton be granted eternal rest from a Life Well Lived. Hortince L. Bell Sutton was born November 29, 1925, in Shiloh, La, to John Berry Bell and Mollie Williams Bell. Hortince was one of nine children born into a strong Christian family and was baptized at an early age.



A Time to Love

Mother Hortince married the love of her life in holy matrimony, John Thomas Sutton. A beautiful marriage that produced two wonderful children (Mildred and Thomas Sutton.)



A Time to Learn, Work, and Play

Mother Hortince received her earlier education from Bernice Color High School. She would later earn a degree from Ouachita Votech School. Hortince was employed as a dietary manager for many years at Bernice nursery and Rehabilitation Center and later retired from Tri-ward Hospital (Reeves Memorial Mental Center.) She loved talking to the young as well as the older people around her. She also loved cooking,



A Time to Commit and Serve

Mother Hortince committed her life to the lord by remaining truthful to the congregation of the Friendship Baptist Church where she remained a devoted Deaconess until her health became paramount.



A Time to Prepare

Mother Hortince Bell Sutton journeyed to Ruston, LA, so that she could be near her daughter. Once her son retired she returned home in Bernice, LA so that she could prepare for her eternal home.



A Time to Die

Mother Hortince Bell Sutton journeyed to be with her Lord and Savior on August 4, 2020. She is where there is no more pain, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is a laid up for me a crown of righteousness, where the lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at the day: and not only to me, but also those who have longed for his appearing (II Timothy 4:7-8).



A time of Remembrance

Mother Hortince, who is known by many names: C Madear, Tincy, Mama, Auntee, and Sutton. She leaves behind devoted family to cherish her memories. She leaves behind a loving daughter Mildred (Jerry) along with her son Thomas, two grandchildren: LaQuinta Lyons- Shreveport, La, Zanthius Sutton, Monroe, La,- two sisters Essie Youngblood, Mollie Bell both of Shreveport, La, one special sister in Christ a Mae Otis Andrews, she also has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends along with her entire loving Church Family of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a member of Emmet Hill, Chaper #40, Order of the Eastern Star, PHA where she served on a number of positions in the chapter. She was the oldest living member for 53 years until she was called home to glory. She served as the former President of the Usher Board (of Friendship Baptist Church), former Secretary of Senior Mission, Former Treasurer of the Usher Board and mission, Former President of the Deaconess and others in the Friendship Baptist Church that may have been missed. SFormer Secretary of the Bernice Housing Board. Former member and officer of the McDaniel Recreation Center and of the Parent Civic Social Club.
