Marie Cookie Walter was born in Ouachita Parish on July 25, 1941 and passed away at her daughter home in West Monroe on May 2, 2018. Cookie lived life to it fullest. She brought fun wherever she went. She modeled a positive spirit and her legacy of forward thinking is one her children hope they have inherited. She loved to sing. She led worship at her church, sang solos, and harmonized with her sister, Sharon. She was a member of the Gospel Express singing group in the 80. She sang for the last time with Chaplain Ricky Baker of Louisiana Hospice a week before she died Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone). Cookie loved to dance and often line danced at the WO Senior Center. Her favorite hobby was traveling. Her suitcase was always ready for a quick trip. Cookie was a retired hairdresser. She loved God and wanted all her friends and family to be ready so she could see them again one day. Cookie attended The Assembly West Monroe. Cookie is preceded in death by her parents, George Noel Daniel and Evie Estelle Hobbs Daniel and her brother, Doyle C. Daniel. She is survived by her loving husband, Andrew T. Walter, her daughters, Carmen Horne and husband Lary, Jodi Wages and husband Jeff, her sons, Brad Trichell, Todd Trichell, Thomas Walter and wife Linda, James Walter and wife Sherry all of West Monroe, daughter, Cathy Walter Simmons of Ft. Worth, TX, sisters, Clo Pitre, Sharon Smith and Mattie Daniel. Cookie was Nana to 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Caleb Trichell, Cole Thornton, Lary Horne, Scott Canady, Thomas Walter, and Brad Walter. Honorary Pallbearer is Wesley Trichell. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Louisiana Hospice for their compassionate care of Cookie. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. A celebration of Cookie life will be held at 2pm on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Lapine Assembly of God in West Monroe. Pastors officiating will be Rev. Eugene Brown and Rev. Butch Pilcher.
