Husband of Elma Jenkins Stringfield
Son of William Smith and Laura Amelia Harvey Stringfield
Mr. Stringfield was 80 years of age at his death. He attended the parish schools before entering Louisiana State University, where he graduated in 1909.
Immediately after graduating, he began a teaching career that led up to appointment in 1911 as Superintendent of Washington Parish Schools, a post that he held for 26 years, until 1937. In later years, he taught at Franklinton High School, was principal at Mt. Hermon High School and for a period was the parish visiting teacher. He retired from the parish school system in 1949.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Franklinton Masonic Lodge where he was a past master, Order of the Eastern Star where he was past worthy patron and numerous civil clubs.
