Lora Thompson Penton, 83, a former resident of the Springhill community and resident of Heritage Manor in Franklinton, died at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Medical Center.
She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church.
Penton is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Martha and Doyle Ladner, Betty and John Rockco and Gayle Hughes, all of Franklinton and Dora and Ed Vanover of Hammond; one son, David Penton of Franklinton; one sister, Grace Dunagan of Monticello, KY., 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin H. Penton; a daughter, Jackie Nell Penton; two sons, Wayne and Tommy Lane Penton and three grandchildren, Lenora Ellen Burris, Randall Lee and Jackie Wayne Rockco.
Visitation will take place at the First United Pentecostal Church from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. tomorrow. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the church. The Revs. Patrick Miller, Leon Hickman and Lynn Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the Magee Cemetery in Springhill.
