Son of David Jones and Doris Powers Bateman
A native and former longtime resident of Baton Rouge, he died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at his home in Franklinton . He was 65, a retired shift supervisor with Dow Chemical in Baton Rouge and a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Franklinton . He is survived by his wife, Virginia Corkern Bateman, Franklinton ; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia B. and Frank Wynne of Covington; grandson, Micheal Paul Bateman of Franklinton ; and brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Marlene Bateman of Ventress. He was preceded in death by a son, David Paul Bateman; and parents, David J. and Doris Powers Bateman. Visitation at Crain Funeral Home, Franklinton , on Tuesday, Jan. 10, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home chapel from 9 a.m. Wednesday until funeral service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Stanley Statham officiating. Interment in Springhill Magee Cemetery .
