JACKSONVILLE, NC - Wanda Lou Westley Porter, 85, of Jacksonville, NC, died June 21, 2012, at Carebridge Assisted Living Community in Jacksonville. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Forest Park Cemetery West, Shreveport, LA, at 12:00 PM.
She is formerly of Shreveport, LA, and Houston, TX. She was a retired homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Jefferson Porter. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Franklin Westley and the former Bessie Lorena Culp; brother Billy Franklin Westley and his wife Juanita; and brother Charles Lee Westley.
Survivors include her son, James Jefferson Porter, Jr., LtCol USMC Ret., and wife Kathleen of Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren Kira Porter Boyd and husband John of Cape Carteret, NC; Major Robert James Porter, USMC, and wife Sarah of Beaufort, SC; great-grandchildren, Beau Thomas Boyd, Caroline Avery Boyd, Morgan Olivia Porter, and Owen Harrison Porter, sister-in-law, Betty Noble Westley, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers for the service will be Bredt C. Westley and John A. Boyd, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Major Robert J. Porter, Ronald Porter, Douglas Matranga, Chase Westley Matranga, Dwight Lindemann, Richard Cooper II, and John A. Boyd, Sr.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 25, 2012 from 10-11:00 AM at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside, Shreveport , LA.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Carebridge Assisted Living Community and the doctors, nurses, and staff at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Semper Fi Fund, 825 College Blvd, Suite 102, PMB 609, Oceanside, CA 92057; Foundation for Hospice, 3391 Henderson Drive Ext., Jacksonville, NC 28546; or a charity of one's choice.
