Services for Orpha Nell "Dell" Moore Ryan, 95, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 24th at Rose Neath Funeral Home on Marshall Street. Officiating will be her two sons, Mike Ryan and Max Ryan, and grandson, Ryan Smith. A graveside service will follow at Mooringsport Memorial Gardens with Rev. Randy Riley officiating. Funeral home visitation hours will be 5-7pm Wednesday.

Dell died Monday, January 21st after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's and a series of medical complications. She was born January 22, 1917 in Austin, Texas. Dell and her family moved to Caddo Lake a year later where she lived the duration of her life on Moore Hill Rd. This special piece of land near Mooringsport was a prize possession to her, a place where the C.B. Moore family loved and nurtured each other, making a safe haven for Dell, her family, and others to follow. She was a lifelong member of Mooringsport Baptist Church, as well as the oldest surviving member. She attended Mooringsport School and the College of Marshall, which inspired her livelihood and love of reading. She went on to have a lengthy career as a librarian with the Caddo Parish and Shreve Memorial Library System, eventually ending her career as head librarian at the Vivian branch. Dell's mother inspired her active and giving spirit, which lead to Dell's membership in the Home Demonstration Club and was instrumental in helping to establish the Mooringsport Mini Museum. This strength and resolve is how Dell lived her life; a Godly woman who exemplified dignity, grace, determination, and devotion to her Savior first, and to her family and friends. She always had a hug and a smile for those she loved dearly, and even those she just met.

Dell was preceded in death by her parents, her childhood sweetheart and husband for 48 years, M.E. "Gene" Ryan, and an infant daughter. She was also preceded in death by 4 sisters: Madge Bonham, Martha Clancy, Maurice Danforth, and June Moore, along with 3 brothers: J.W. Moore, Buck Moore, and C.H. "Pinky" Moore, as well as sister-in-law and best friend, Virginia Wood Moore.

She is survived by sons Mike Ryan and wife Linda of Shreveport, Max Ryan and wife Anne of Mooringsport, and daughter Lynn Smith and husband Kenneth of Scurry, TX. Her amazing legacy is left to 8 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren who call her Mammaw. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will remember her as the "favorite aunt".

Pallbearers will be Scott Ryan, Caleb Ryan, Joey Ryan, Andrew Smith, Ryan Smith, Andrew Wayne Smith, John Michael Cristler, and Jim Moore. Honorary pallbearer will be Roger Moore.

The family would like to extend their gratitude for the love and care shown by Heritage Manor Stratmore and the nursing staff of Lifepath Hospice.

Memorials can be made to The Mooringsport Old Cemetery Committee, 3875 Line Avenue, Apt. 132, Shreveport, LA 71106-1174.

A day short of her 96th birthday and the sole survivor of the C.B. Moore family, she is now smiling and rejoicing, healthy in mind and body, with Jesus and the loved ones she has missed all these years
