MOORINGSPORT, LA - Graveside services for Mary Frances Boggess, 88, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Forest Park East Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Harrell Shelton. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 22, 2016, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA.
Frances was born May 5, 1927 in Waskom, TX in a sawmill house on Hwy. 80 to Andrew Haywood and Lois Loraine Creamer Poteet, and passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on March 20, 2016. She graduated from Waskom High School in 1944, and attended Norton's Business College. After graduating from Norton's, she went to work for the Shreveport Times. She later went to work for LSU Medical Center where she retired in 1989. She was active in Eastern Stars and church.
Preceding Frances in death are her parents; brothers, Haywood and LeRoy Poteet; and great-grandson, Austin Michael Brice. At her bedside when she passed away was her husband of 67 years, W. R. "Bill" Boggess; daughter, Fran Brice and husband Mike; grandchildren, Brandon Brice and wife Jill, and Clinton Brice and wife Elizabeth; her great-grandchildren, Natalie, Kendal, Blayne, Logan, and Anna Brice. Other survivors are step-grandchildren, Brent Brice and wife, Karyn and their daughter; Kris Ray and husband, Craig and their children; Traci Forguson and husband, Jeremy and their children; sisters, Madge Poteet, and Norma Lewing; and step-granddaughter, Ariana Phenix.
Honoring Frances as pallbearers will be Brandon Brice, Clinton Brice, Mike Brice, Brent Brice, Gene Smith, and Ages Lindsay.
The family would like to suggest memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
