This is Ms. Daisy's Story:

Ms. Jinks passed away on June 29, 2017. She was born on October 2, 1923, in Shreveport, Louisiana, but spent much of her childhood in Natchitoches, where she graduated from Natchitoches High School.

She began her work career with the Veterans' Administration in Washington, D. C., and stayed with the VA even after returning to Shreveport. She spent more than 41 years with the VA, then came out of retirement to serve as a "Pink Lady" at Schumpert Medical Center for more than twenty years.

Ms. Daisy loved the Lord her entire life. Ms. Daisy made World Class Pecan Pralines and Fudge. She was an avid reader. She loved to sew and garden, as well as always helping others. She kept her sense of humor about being treated for congestive heart failure, telling her doctor to "make sure you get a good pig" each time she received a heart valve transplant. She was a faithful member of the Victory Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than fifty years.

Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, Vera and Milton Barnhart, by her sister Mary Lou Nicholas, by her brothers, Robert Milton Barnhart and Joe Lee Barnhart and by her nephew, Robert (Barney) Barnhart. She is survived by her children, Phyllis Jinks and Steve Jinks and his wife Charmian; by her grandchildren, Cornelia Haegele and her husband Matt and Zack Dunlap and his wife Audrey; and by great-grandchildren, Connor Wiley, Abraham Dunlap and Anthony Haegele.

The family would like to thank all those who helped Daisy during her final illness, especially Dr. Wen Liu and staff, Dr. Corky Davis and the staff of Ark-La-Tex Cardiology and Brandy Brown for her loving care.

Persons wishing to make memorial contributions in honor of Ms. Jinks are asked to consider a gift to Grace Community Church, 9400 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport LA 71106.
