Lloyd Earl Sheffield Sr., beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, went to be with Our Lord on January 6, 2021. Lloyd will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
Lloyd was born to John and Grace Sheffield on December 2, 1930 in Theodore, Alabama and was preceded in death by his brother, John Sheffield Jr. and sister, Bobbie Branch. He graduated from the University of Georgia and was a Proud member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married Betty Joan Baker of Shreveport, Louisiana on April 2, 1954 and then moved to Houston, Texas in July 1959.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan and oldest son, Lloyd Earl Jr. and is survived by his sons, Eric Baker, John Mark, and daughter-in-law Gloria Sheffield; granddaughters, Jessica, Erika, Leah, Charlene mother of his great grandchildren, Gavin and Starlyn whose father is Jeremy Goldstein.
A Memorial Service celebrating Lloyd’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 5020 West Bellfort St., Houston, Texas 77035 with Reverend Jon Burnham officiating. Before the service, a viewing will be held at 10:30 a.m. for those who wish to show their respects. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Lloyd’s name to St. John’s. Lloyd will be laid to rest next to his loving wife, Joan in Shreveport, Louisiana on January 14, 2021 at Forest Park Cemetery.
