St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St Martinville for Bootsie Joseph Blanchard, 85, who passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St Martinville from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, and continue on Wednesday at 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.

Rev Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St Michael Cemetery in St Martinville.

Bootsie was a dragline and crane operator/foreman. He served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960 and was again called to duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.

Bootsie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rita Mae Poirier Blanchard; son Terry Blanchard; daughters Joy, Lottie and Julie; grandchildren, Lanie, Michelle, Greyson, and Genevieve; great-granddaughter, Thea; brother Danny Blanchard; and sister Donna Bergeron.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Trudy; son, Barry; mother, Bridgette Latiolais Blanchard; father, Stephen Blanchard; and brother, Johnny Gary Blanchard.
