Marian, or "Nanny", as she was affectionately known by many of her family and friends, departed this life on February 27, 2010 at the age of 101.

She was born in Choudrant, LA, and lived in Port Arthur, TX, Ruston, LA, Farmerville, LA and Greenwell Springs, LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eb and Lizzie Davis; her husband of 68 years, Herbert Baker; two sisters, Theo Mercer and Leila Maude Holmes; one brother, Billy Davis; a son, William H. Baker; and a granddaughter, Melinda Baker.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Harvey Shaffer with whom she lived since 2001. She is also survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Roach and Dorothy Haddad, eight grandchildren, Will, Dennis, Brad, Gail, Greg, Terry, Vickie, and Dana, eighteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Her favorite activities were fishing in Lake Darbonne, cooking, and entertaining friends and relatives at her home on the lake.

Visitation will be at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 2.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 3 at Farmerville United Methodist Church, where she was a long-time member. Burial will be at Douglas Cemetery in Choudrant.

Pallbearers will be Dennis, Brad and Greg Shaffer, John Baugnon, and James and David Roach.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Will Baker, Stanley Browning, Martin Shumaker, and Richard White.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge for services rendered during her last few days.
