John J McFarland, 91 of Vivian, Louisiana passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at his home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Vivian officiated by Rev Richard Beeman. There will a time of visitation from 9:30 am until the service time on Thursday at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian.

Mr McFarland was born on December 6, 1922 in Trees City, Louisiana. He was raised in Trees City and lived in the Vivian area most of his life. He worked for Exxon for over 35 years in different places including, Vidalia, Louisiana, Waldo, Arkansas, and Fouke Arkansas. He loved gardening and he enjoyed doing yard work. His great passion was baseball, he loved watching baseball games.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel McFarland, his brothers Donald, Roy and Billy Joe and his sister Mozelle Hart. He is survived by his children Mary Lee Haughton Tate and husband Ken of Shreveport, Louisiana and Keith McFarland and wife Donna of Longview, Texas, his grandchildren Gentry Lee Haughton and husband Brandon Todaro of Shreveport, Louisiana and Ryan McFarland and wife Melanie of Orlando, Florida, his great grandchildren Embry Todaro, Zoe McFarland and Zane McFarland and several nieces, nephews and other family members.
