Funeral services for Katherine Louise Brown Durrett of Dubach, Louisiana, will be Friday, February 13, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Dubach. She departed this earth Wednesday, February 11, 2015 to her heavenly home following a lengthy illness.
She was born to parents Norman and Annie Mae Brown on July 16, 1940. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents Norman and Annie Mae, brothers-Norman Eugene Brown and Clyde Lavon Brown and sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Brown.
Katherine was a devoted wife and wonderful mother. She was known as Nanny to her grandchildren and great-children and Aunt Kat to many nieces and nephews. She loved fishing, hunting, canning from the garden, Nascar races and watching the Saints play football. She devoted her time to family, friends, and church. Katherine taught VBS classes and GA’s as her children grew up. She had a special place in her heart for First Baptist Church. She worked on the Benevolent Committee and helped in the church kitchen for many years. She was owner/operator of the Chat-n-Curl, served on Dubach Town Council and served as Justice of Peace in years past.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas D. Durrett, Sr. of Dubach, daughters, Debra Heard of Dubach, Mona Wilson and husband Mark of Dubach, Renee Simpson of Farmerville, and son, Thomas D. Durrett, Jr. (Tommy) and wife Heather of Bernice. Grandchildren include Ben Heard and wife Lacey, Katie Joerg and husband Matt, Jacob Heard, Joseph Aaron, Kristina Davis and husband, Steven, Justin Simpson and wife Autumn, Blake Simpson and wife Tiffany, Cody Simpson, Tommy Durrett, III, Taylor Durrett, and wife Samantha, Step grandchildren Mark Wilson, Jr. and Michelle Bagwell and husband Glen. Great-Grandchildren are Cole, Maddie Grace, Bailey Ann, Kloe Grace, Austin Michael and Hadlee Joy. Step-great grandchildren are Adam, Ashlynn, Brylee, Paisley, Remington, and Kayla
Visitation will be Thursday, February 12, 2015, 5:00-7:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Dubach
Pallbearers are Benjamin Heard, Jacob Heard, Joseph Aaron, Justin Simpson, Blake Simpson, Cody Simpson, Tommy Durrett III, and Taylor Durrett.
