March 19, 1908 - June 3, 1983
Born in Springhill, Louisiana to Robert Riley Boucher and Lula K. Rogers. He was a graduate of Sul Ross State University where he acquired a bachelor of science degree in biology. He served in the U S Army Air Corps as a cadet at March Field in Riverside, California. Later he moved to Taylor, Arkansas where he served as principal and teacher of the only small school in that area. He ran for the state legislature in 1935-1936 election. When Huey P. Long, Jr died by assassination he won his seat. He won a second term in 1944 and his third term in 1948. He did not seek another term, but instead became an alternate delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1956 which was held in Chicago, Illinois. He served on many boards from 1956 to 1963. He owned Drayton Boucher Real Estate and Evelyn Corporation and was a partner in Acadian Oil and Gas Company. He was married in 1935 to Erma Nickerson, whom he divorced in 1961. He then married Evelyn Aydell Coleman. He died in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on June 2, 1983 after a long battle with colon cancer.
