Funeral services for Donald Malcolm Hill, 74, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 6, 2013 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA with Rev. Larry Linson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, LA. Mr. Hill was born on August 17, 1939 in Oak Grove, LA and passed away on September 2, 2013 after a battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Charles Bert and Alice McDowell Hill. He moved to Monroe to attend college at NLU and joined the Monroe Police Department in 1961. He served the people of Monroe for over 33 years, retiring as a Police Major in March of 1994. He adored his wife of 52 years, Patricia, who tirelessly stood by his side until he went home to be with the Lord. He is also survived by his sons, Mark Hill, David M. Hill, Sr. and wife, Dana, and Greg Hill and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Hailey, Taylor, Codi, David, Jr, Dawson, Bailey and Abbigail; brother, Charles Nolan Hill; sisters, Virginia Hill Chop and Billie Faye Hill Burgess; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Trey Fluitt, Wade Jackson, Steve Descant, Joe Stewart, Jimmy McGee, and Scott Greer. Honorary pallbearers will be the Retired Police Offiers of Monroe Police Department, Willis Watson, Ricky Peele, Jack McKoin, and Willie Buffington. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA. The family wishes to extend thanks to St. Francis Specialty Hospital. Memorials may be made to Fallen Police Officers Memorial Fund at the Monroe Police Department.
