Marcus, age 89 and a resident of Franklinton died at 4:00 pm Saturday March 21, 2009 at Riverside Medical Center. He was a longtime member and Sunday school teacher at Acys Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He was a proud and accomplished gardener and was retired from Petrolane Gas Company after performing service in the area for many years. He remained always a loving father and grandfather. Mr Brumfield honorably served his country during World War II in the 78th Infantry of the US Army, with whom he fought in the Ardennes Forest Campaign and after intense fighting with heavy casualties on March 7-17, 1945 his unit was the first to cross the Rhine River over the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen, Germany.
Survived by 3 Sons and daughters in law, Larry and Lynda Brumfield of Montvale, Virginia, Rev Michael and Annette Brumfield of Daphne, Aabama Terry Brumfield of Franklinton, 8 Grandchildren: Johnathon Brumfield, Lauren Scharp, Kara Edmonds, Susan VanBuren, Robin Brumfiled, Amanda Lavignette, Melissa Brumfield, Cody Brumfield, 5 Great-grandchildren; 2 Sisters: Lena Mae Foil and Eva Nell Bankston both of Franklinton, Brother Arnold Brumfield of Franklinton. Also numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other family members. Preceded in death by his parents, Jimi & Lena Haley Brumfield and sister, Hattie Bankston.

Ora, age 88, died at 7:30 am on Thursday, January 25 in her residence at Franklinton. She was a member of Acy's Creek Missionary Baptist Church and a caregiver for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Marcus E Brumfield of Franklinton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Lynda Brumfield of Yorktown, Virginia, Rev Michael and Annette Brumfield of Daphne, Alabama and Terry Brumfield of Franklinton; eight grandchildren, Jonathan Brumfield, Lauren Scharp, Kara Edmonds, Susan VanBuren, Robin Brumfield, Amanda Lavig-nette, Melissa Brumfield and Cody Brumfield; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Shelton Hunt of Bogalusa, Robert Earl Hunt of Thomas and Houston Hunt of Pine; and one sister, Bevie Simmons of Pine. She was preceded in death by her parents, Spurgeon and Ida Mae Stafford Hunt; one sister, Lillie Mae Taylor; and two brothers, John E Hunt and Hubert Hunt.
