Formerly 36th Regiment Georgia Infantry - it was combined with several other units to form the 1st Confederate Battalion Georgia Infantry in April 1865.

He enlisted on December 5, 1863, at Ft Gainer, Alabama. His name appeared on a Roll of Confederate Soldiers paroled at Headquarters, 16th Army Corps, Montgomery, Alabama on May 29, 1865. He took the Oath of Allegiance at Montgomery, Alabama on May 30, 1865.
