From Louisiana Archives ~ Volentine, J F, Private Company G, 3rd (Wingfield's) Louisiana Cavalry. Enlisted July 19, 186-, Camp Turner. Roll dated September 19, 1862, Present. Federal Rolls of Prisoners of War, Captured Amite River, June 27, 1863. Letter dated Provost Marshal's Office, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, July 1, 1863, addressed to General Bowen and signed by Captain L Goodrich, Provost Marshal, of which the following is an extract: I send you the following prisoners of war, captured by Captain Bunker's Cavalry (3rd Massachusetts) east of this city.
