February 24, 1872 - December 25, 1957

Born in McIntyre, Louisiana to Nicholas J. Sandlin and his wife Irene McIntyre. He was educated in the public school system of Minden, Louisiana. He studied law and passed the bar in 1896 when he began to practice law in Minden. From 1904-1910 he was district attorney for the Second Judicial District and served as Judge for that same district from 1910 - 1920. Mr. Sandlin was elected to Congress in 1920. Mr. Sandlin married Ruth Reams by whom he had two children, John and Ruth. Ruth Reams Sandlin died of complications due to childbirth On March 28, 1911. In 1913 he married Emma Lou Palmer Crichton.
